Duality in the realm of Divine perfection (Srila B.A. Paramadvaiti Maharaj)

Gurumaharaj in his inimitable way interweaving high spiritual philosophy with down-to-earth, world-and-time-conscious activism. And as always ending talking about love, and love in action, which is service, which is his main teaching.
(From Wrocław, Poland, 24 july 2014)

"Divinity is showing its ability to spread into two, then to join again, to expand into further." (1.15)

Pictures and some captions of Peru 2014, by Caitanya das

As I am not a great scribe nor storyteller this post will be in pictures and captions, and the captions will contain my story. I may append text to the captions of things that are not visible in the pictures. Anyway, lets get started.

Many buildings in central Lima that are important (like police houses, government) are built in Roman style. Similar buildings can be found in italian towns. I went to visit the large temple in Lima which also contained a Vrinda restaurant.

Govardhan Celebration

Govardhan Celebration in Nimaihuset saturday 25 October!

This day we remember Krishna's pastime of lifting the Govardhan Hill on one finger, to protect the residents of Vrindavan from the demigod Indra's rage over being neglected in favour of Krishna, the Absolute, and thus showing His devotees the meaning of
the final instruction and conclusion of Bhagavad Gita:

Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me.
I shall deliver you from all sinful reactions. Do not fear.

There will be singing of bhajans, lecture, altar ceremony,
and afterwards some nice prasadam will be served

We start at 17

Welcome!

Progress (Srila Sridhar Maharaj)

Excerpt from Follow the Angels

Picture from the appearance day celebration of Srila Sridhar Maharaj 2014
in Sri Caitanya Sarasvat Math, Vrindavan

"If we make progress towards the east, the west will be left behind"

Progress means elimination of old things and acceptance of the new. Progress means a living, new experience: bhaktih paresanubhavo viraktir anyatra ca – "Devotion, direct experience of the Supreme Lord, and detachment from other things. (Srimad Bhagavatam 11.2.42)

"Times are changing" – Gurumaharaj on food and the decision to go vegan (Vrindavan yesterday)

Srila B.A. Paramadvaiti Maharaj settling the matter with milk products, white sugar, and non-organic food (and pointing at some time-related imbalances).

"You could say, milk from the market is coming from the cow concentration camps. [---] Then comes the next thing, that this milk industry, producing this concentration camp-milk, -butter, -cheese, -yoghurt, – that industry puts chemicals into the cows and produces a milk that is not healthy. In other words, all these milk products, they're the reason why you have this disease and that disease and that disease, and why the hospitals are filled. This is not healthy food. [---] We want the Vrinda Family to go in a vegan lifestyle. [---] We didn't want to make it like an absolute, but at least we wanted to give that example." (3:54f)

Srila Sridhar Maharaj (biography, links, index)

Today is the appearance day of one of the greatest Vaishnavas of recent time and a great favourite in Nimaihuset: Srila Bhakti Rakshak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj.

The Perfection of Renunciation (Srila B.A. Paramadvaiti Maharaj)

Gurumaharaj speaks about sannyasa – the renounced order of life – and things related, on the appearance day (2012) of his sannyasa-guru Srila B.R. Sridhar Maharaj.

"Enjoyment is a natural propensity. And the only joy and the only happiness, according to the Vaishnava philosophy, will be achieved when someone overcomes his separate interest from Krishna: when somebody makes Krishna's wish his wish, when he makes Krishna's love his goal of life. Srila Sridhar Maharaj is a general amongst the renunciants. He has shown to us that renunciation is a very joyful path. Undoubtedly renunciation is a challenge. It challenges our conditional thinking altogether. But is responds to a higher craving which is also within you. Because real love is abnegation of egotism, entirely. Just like a mother never thinks of her comfort when her child is in danger. Any kind of discomfort becomes to her the most natural and first choice. Because that's what love is all about. So we are very fortunate when we see our love being put into the circle of divine understanding. [---] Krishna's goal, Krishna's service, Krishna's devotees, Krishna's love, everything Krishna." (3:34)

Gurumaharaj in Vrindavan yesterday

Morning lecture from the roof veranda of Vrinda Kunja:
Gurumaharaj connecting Gaudiya Vaishnavism with his work with the indigenous people of South America.
A little internal maybe, but the sound vibration is ecstatic, and worship/service of sound vibration is what it's all about anyway, so...

The meaning of Vyasa Puja

The meaning of Vyasa Puja
(From a Vrinda page, by unknown devotee)

The worship of the spiritual master on the day of his appearance, is called Vyasa Puja. Puja means worship, and Vyasa refers to the powerful incarnation of God who came 5000 years ago to compile the Vedic literature. Srila Vyasadeva could foresee the degraded condition of the people of Kali Yuga and therefore compiled millions of verses of Vedic wisdom, to give the fallen souls of this age a chance to reach the perfection of life.

8000 Drums Sunday 12th October

8000 Drums at Lejontrappan, Sunday 18.00!

On the 12th of October, which is the very very auspicious apperance day of our beloved Gurudeva, we invite you to participate in a global gathering of healing the wounds of our minds and re-establishing the sacred relationship with Mother Earth. Two years ago Gurudeva initiated this to the Vrinda Mission after inspiration from the elders of the tribes from Sierra Nevada Colombia, to gather to a global drum manifesto. It is set on the date of 12 of October which for us is very auspicious, but for the indigenous cultures in Amerika it is considered a day of grief, as it was the day Columbus and the western colonization, slaughter of different worldviews, took off.

We will gather 18.00 at Lejontrappan, the Lion stairs just next to Brunnsparken and make a celebration for Mother Earth and the River of God/Göta älv (Göta is a fornnordic name for God), the holy water which is Radha and Krishna's love extacy combined, and continue to connect to our true selves – eternal spirit sparks of the love divine.

Please join in and bring a drum for this holy celebration!

Mohana visited from Colombia (Pictures)

Last week Nimaihuset was visited by our dear sister Mohana Vamsi Bihari devi dasi from Colombia. As the winner of the sankirtan marathon she gets to go to Vrindavan (India), and on the way she decided to pass Sweden and Gupta Vrindavan Nimaihuset, to see her friend, Nimaihuset's songbird Gandharvika Sundarim dd, and to pick up Madhu Mangal das, who is also going there. We had five wonderful days of her precious company – high, sweet, and fun.

Responsibility – Freedom – Love (Srila B.A. Paramadvaiti Maharaj)

Gurumaharaj in Berlin (April 2014) about freedom. And a particular fruit even higher than that. And the premise for both.

"Freedom is something like a fruit. You have like a very wonderful papaya fruit called Freedom. It's totally ripe and somewhere out there, but you don't know how to get there. How will I get this papaya? How will I deserve to get this Freedom? – Freedom... Libertad... Freiheit... It's a word that makes your chest enlarge. So this big Freedom papaya which is so high up, it has a certain restriction. What is the restriction to freedom? What do we have to accomplish in order to be able to deserve freedom? And is there a fruit even higher than Freedom? The key connection between yourself and Freedom, that is something called Spiritual Realization. It's called Responsibility."

"What's the fruit of responsibility? – Freedom, yes. And after freedom? – Love! You cannot get love if there is no freedom. You cannot get freedom if there is no assuming responsibility."
