The zimmer wheel of samsara, part 2 / Samsaras rullatorhjul, del 2

English: Finally comes part 2 of Geoffrey Crueger's (author's alter ego) article series. Part 1 was posted on the 15th of october on this blog.

This article is called
"From nurses to conversations about a realized yogi!"

Eng: My occupation has many nuances.

Sve: Mitt yrke har många nyanser.

Eng: We live in a time when the old people who have worked hard all their lives are granted 15 minutes of assistance daily for getting up, getting dressed and making breakfast. They also get a handful of medicines so that they will not have to think very about that it's soon time to check out from the present body. So that they will be drugged enough when it's time to set off for a travel to be installed in another life form. Old nurses that through their occupation have given up the hope for humanity. Who drain the hope and make the new young enthusiastic humans aware that there is no time for their visions. Give up! Become like us and get a coffee breath instead.

Ge upp! Bli som oss och få kaffe-andedräkt istället.

Eng: Like that I experienced my occupation for some time. And when I wasn't there, I was standing in uncomfortable positions on my yoga-mat, or distracting myself by aiming my consciousness at the holy name of the absolute, hiding with my rosary beads.

Eng: What am I doing here? I am a tin soldier in a game with unreasonable rules. I don't want to be in it.

Eng: But then the pieces of the puzzle started coming together. I could see the three qualities of nature (gunas, mentioned in the previous article) in the hallway of every old man or woman I was visiting. I could see their photos of great grand children as babies or of themselves as small children with their parents. I could see their wedding photos and in front of me I could see and hear person after person tell about the death of their husbands, wives and friends. And I could see in front of me someone who is on the way to molder away and soon also die.

Eng: Everyday I was confronted face to face with birth, disease, maintenance and decomposition. Every day I met some old person saying that he/she was happy for being able to still walk or read letters. This gives me the feeling, as I stand on my mat, that it's a mercy to be able to stand here and do my yoga.

Eng: I can stand in an umcomfortable position without suffering from it. Focused only on my breathing. I have also found myself in a squatting position, cleaning the butt of an old person who is yelling at me. But I just focus on my breathing.

Eng: In the second chapter, text 14 of Bhagavad-gita, Krishna describes to Arjuna that happiness and distress are two poles of nature and just as summer and winter they come and go. We should accept them without becoming bewildered.

Eng: Among these rules there is knowledge and nectar.

Swami Shivananda

Eng: One day when I had been heating up boxes a la quacking in the microwaves in the homes of old people I once again asked myself: Is it my responsibility to go out of this set of rules. I went to a very old man and brought him out on a walk. We chatted a little and he asked me what I do otherwise. I told him that I had been to India and just recently came back. He was mightily impressed. He told that he had been a member of the theosophical society where he had made researches on norse mythology together with like-minded from all the Nordic countries. Once he fell seriously ill and one of the like-minded, a man from Iceland, directed him to a yogi who had been helping them in studying similarities between norse mythology and vedic culture. The man told that this yogi was linked to a publishing house in the 50:s when this happened. Shivananda was his name, Swami Shivananda. And he had sent blessed sand, probably from the Ganges, that the man was supposed to pour over his head. He had also written down a mantra for him to chant, Hare Rama Hare Rama Hare Krishna Hare Krishna. I was almost bursting into flames. This 95-yearold shy man shocked me with this story when I mentioned India. Then I told him about the mantra and that it's usually recited on rosary beads. He asked me to get him such beads and also the Tibetan Book of the Dead. So there i was standing in the midst of the coffee breath, pills and microwaves that I had gotten used to. In front of a man who sincerely wanted a rosary, practice yoga and was thirsty after knowledge about samsara. I got him the rosary for the next time I visited him a few weeks later, but I don't know yet how he followed it up.

Eng: I love to work and I love my job.

Haribol!

Invitation to dance...

Do you know that I sing poems to the pursuit of your search? I make you small but your aim great... I will give you a universe, but you will find it insufficient. You will want to leave it when you do not find within it the sweetness of My spirit. And in this way, I will praise your love, and you My greatness, and we will love each other more and more. We will love each other day and night; and they will say that I am a cheater and that you are crazy. But before this, you will love me as rock and thunder, as sun and wind, as man or woman, as father, mother, child, sky, music, friend and universe. You will always love me in some way... When you are stronger I will stop your plans, your dreams, your hopes. I will take away your friends, your family, your money; as if pruning the fruit tree to improve its fruit; as if pruning the rose bush to strengthen the rose...

And you will come to Me. You will come running to Me. Some will say that you should be careful of Me, that I am a cheater. Again, others will say that you are crazy. But both of us will be intoxicated by the fascination of our love: because I want your love towards Me to be great, and because the love that I have for you is very great...
And you will see that that which I took from you, that I threw at your feet as useless plunder, will become fertilizer for your internal roots, and your plans will be to have Me; My embrace your hope, the world your friend, every being your family, and purity your wealth. O soul! I want to make you light, I want to make you love, I want to make you an angel. Let yourself be within the warmth of My hands. Let Me lull you to sleep against My yearning chest. Allow Me to take you to dance in Vrindavan!
