Associating with the sound incarnation of God (Srila Prabhupada)

Excerpt from a lecture on the Hare Krishna mantra,
given in New York, September 8, 1966

“If you want to spiritualize your vision, if you want to spiritualize your action,
if you want to spiritualize the whole constitution of your existence,
then you have to associate with the supreme spirit.”

Shiva Ratri – Lord Shiva's Night

Wednesday the 18th February we honour Lord Shiva, Gopīśvara Mahādeva — the greatest Vaishnava, gatekeeper of Vrindavan, and helper of Krishna-devotees. We will sing Shiva-bhajans, there will be lecture, we will offer Bael leaves to Him, and then we sing some more.

Bring some fruits or flowers to offer to Lord Shiva and come sing with us and hear about Him.

*

We start at 19.00
When we end, we don't know :)
Warm welcome!

Vrindavanvani-pate jaya soma soma
maule sanandana-sanatana-naradeya
gopishvara vraja-vilasi-yuganghri-padme
prema prayaccha nirupadhi namo namas te

O Shiva, O gatekeeper of Vrindavan! O you who are accompanied by Uma! O you who carry the moon in your hair!
O lord worshiped by Sananda Kumara, Sanat Kumara and Narada Muni!
O Gopisvara, the worshipable deity of the gopis!
Desiring that you bestow upon me love for the divine couple, Sri Sri Radha Madhava, who perform joyous pastimes in Vraja, I offer my obeisances unto you again and again.

Srila Visvanatha Chakravarti Thakura, Sri Sankalpa-Kalpadrum

Laddu Gopal has got a night cap (2) (Pictures)

Laddu Gopal in His new night cap, next to 4 and a half of the 6 Goswamis

The attraction never wanes for giving presents to Nimaihuset's Baby-Krishna-Deity Sri Laddu Gopal, who came from Vrindavan to Nimaihuset in 2010 (via a sannyasi, to Madhu Mangal Das in Ecuador, and the day after, on to his visiting father going back to Sweden). This was after Tulasi Devi Dasi had offered laddus (very sweet chickpea candies) to Nimaihusets Deity altar every night for 2 weeks. Devotees, friends, and guests who hear about Him love to donate sweets and clothes to Him (read about it here), and recently Nimaihuset's Chaitanya Das was given the special service to see to that there is always a supply of laddus to give Him for breakfast and evening tea.

Last Christmas, Rohini Devi Dasi from Bulgaria (who resided in Nimaihuset when Laddu Gopal first came here) sent Him a christmas present – a big blue home-knitted night cap. Beautiful, and perfect for Sri Laddu Gopal. Subal Das came by and took pictures.

I offer my respectful obeisances unto His Divine Grace Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati, who is very dear to Lord Krishna, having taken shelter at His lotus feet.

I offer my respectful obeisances to Sri Varshabhanavi-devi-dayita dasa [Srila Bhaktisiddhanta], who is favored by Srimati Radharani and who is the ocean of transcendental mercy and the deliverer of the science of Krishna.

I offer my respectful obeisances unto you, the personified energy of Sri Caitanya’s mercy, who deliver devotional service which is enriched with conjugal love of Radha and Krishna, coming exactly in the line of revelation of Srila Rupa Gosvami.

I offer my respectful obeisances unto you, who are the personified teachings of Lord Caitanya. You are the deliverer of the fallen souls. You do not tolerate any statement which is against the teachings of devotional service enunciated by Srila Rupa Gosvami.

As a child, held by his father, Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura

The Universal Teacher

Today is the Appearance Day of His Divine Grace Sri Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada, the Spiritual Master of among others Srila Prabhupada, Srila Sridhar Maharaj and Srila Puri Maharaj  the three Spiritual Masters of our Spiritual Master Srila Paramadvaiti Maharaj. We observe it with this inspiring biographical documentary.

The speaker:
"During the early part of the 20th century there occurred a unique event in the spiritual history of modern India. In a remote village on the banks of the sacred Ganga there resided a distinguished personality who would, in due course, do more to help raise the consciousness of human civilization than any other person at this time." (0:35)

Srila B.A. Paramadvaiti Swami (Gurumaharaj):
"Bhaktivinoda Thakura could see that there is also some sincerity in the Western search for truth and answers to the mysteries of life, and he knew that there were the answers – in the Vedas, in the transcendental tradition. So he surely appreciated that an effort should be made to convey this message in a language people could relate to." (12:53)

And at the end of the documentary:

"Krishna Consciousness is the eternal consciousness of the soul. It is not limited by race, colour, or a particular society. Krishna Consciousness is universal, and those who understand this are indeed fortunate." (54:13)
